Joomla is my favourit CMS. The new era is gonna happen soon, because Joomla 1.5 is coming out soon. I have helped the core team to fix some bugs, and just today the final RC4 1.5 Joomla came out.

I have tested Joomla 1.5 on some of my sites and it is super fast. They really have done some major code tweaking. I have only big hope for Joomla.

So I still use 1.013 version of the stable non 1.5 Joomla till the 1.5 Joomla come out.

So I will write down the necessary core addons that I recommend using to have Joomla work the way you want it to work.

Wikipedia Ranking Phenomena

Wikipedia is slowly going to rank for all the major terms on internet. It is so popular that everybody is lining to its content. That is the reason why Wikipedia ranks so good for all the keywords. I am calling a Wikipedia Phenomena.

ON daily basis it get thousands and thousand incoming links from other sites that are pointing to Wikipedia content. So ranking good in Google mainly depends on good incoming links with anchor keyword text.

Wikipedia ranks for major terms in business, that most of the companies only dreaming of, and they spend huge amount fo link building, PPC, just to get a small amount for that traffic Wikipedia gets.

PPC - Pay Per Click Campaigns

I have recently returned from London. I visited some of the search engine optimization seminars in London, and it was great. Till then I was a pure SEO, but in London something clicked. I talked with so many different managers SEM experts and SEO in London barely exists.

They are all doing PPC, can you imagine that!!!!!

I thought London companies use SEO like in Los Angeles, but no, most of the companies rely on PPC. I talked with guys who are taking care of different TV network PPC campaigns and we talked about SEO. Well they don't use SEO at all.

I hate spammers!!! Especially IEntry Inc

I mean enough is enough. This company might be the biggest spammer ever. I get 4 emails from them and at the bottom of each email there is an unsubscribe option, but it does not work.

So I decided to call and apparently the director Susan Coppersmith is not even working there any more.

And she is still listed on the site. I mean these assholes are another level of web spam.

They have a little link at the bottom that say unsubscribe, But that does not work at all.

I mean this is a 21 century spam company. And I never read any of their emails that they are sending. I will never buy from those companies. I mean they are completely ruining the reputation of advertisers.

So I had to call some southern hillbilly and tell him to manually remove me from their email spam list. Wow, I mean I would so happily sue this company and take every dime from them.

I hope somebody did that already. Today I got 4 emails on half of my emails. $, can you imagine that.

Fuck you spammers.

Update on /th of December:

Guess what, I got another 4 emails from Ientry. What a horrible company. THey just earned the name the biggest spammer of the 2007, and my server email apam protection does not recognize them as spammers.

Way to go IEntry. You beg for  bad advertising.
I am sure many others have complained. First you have to change your staff, remove that Hillbilly that can not properly remove me from the subscription list.

Wordpress Is Wonderful

Well I just started to install several Wordpress sites for a new client and I like it. Wordpress is like a Joomla offspring. It is less complex, but is built in similar way.

It is search engine friendly. You have to install a special plugin called All-in-one-seo-pack and it is amazing. You can alter everything. You can put no-follow tags, de-index categories, set the title tags, you can even decide if the site name will appear in the Page Titles. I can not do that in Joomla from the admin section, It requires a special hack.

It is spidered without incoming links. So you do not have to get high PR incoming links to index your Wordpress site. And that is a big big plus. It is kind of sucked into the search engines. It uses Ping services and alerts other sites for each new article. This is wonderful option.

It has the biggest collection of free themes that I have seen till now. Joomla is basically lacking themes, so you have to buy them from special sites and those themes are cluttered with code and SEO unfriendly. Not Wordpress. I checked few of the latest themes and they are all W3C complaint, table less, with minimum code. This is amazing. You can easily alter your theme if you know html and a bit of php. Themes are little different from Joomla and Drupal, and they are divided into parts like left, footer, right, center and I hate this. I want to have the core theme code in one file, not divided in 5 files. But still it is not so hard to customize a theme that is already compliant and table less. I hate tables!!!!!

Another thing is that Wordpress seems not to suffer with speed. I have checked few sites built in Wordpress and they all run fast. Joomla and Drupal are slower if you ask me.
That is a big big plus for WP.

Another thing is you can add forums as plugins, (drupal has that, Joomla also, but in Joomla upgrading the forum requires more work, database hacks)

And there is a huge community, like in Joomla.

But the WP is still not a winner. It is a clear winner for a simple site, I can not deny that. And in many cases you do not need more than a simple site. Joomla 1.5 is coming out soon, so WP watch out.

I will convert my Geeklog to Worpress but I have to do it manually. There is a special tool for migrating to WP but it is too complex and you have to hack it for the images….

If you compare Geeklog to Wordpress, the Wordress is a winner definitely. I mean upgrading Geeklog is a nightmare. Can you imagine the difference between dentist with a foot drill and a dentist with latest Waterlase technology?  That is how I feel when comparing Geeklog and Wordpress upgrades.

Any bad things I can say about WP? Not for now.
