Get Your Site Out of Google's Supplemental Results - Bad for your ranking

After the last update, many pages from different sites went into supplemental results. That could be very bad for the overall traffic of the site so you have to watch out for that issue. You can simply check the supplemental results if you type this into google search box
site:www.yourdomain.com *** -view

Some webmasters have experienced that many of their pages went into supplemental results and as a result - the traffic has dropped.

Why is that happening you may ask?

Well the google has made a lot of changes in google algorithm. One is tightening Google duplicate content filters.

So first of all you must not have duplicate content on your pages. That means no copying text from other sites. You have to have a unique content.

Google has been using PageRank scores to determine whether to index a page, or should they throw it in their supplemental results pool, and perhaps how strongly they should apply various Google filters (duplicate content filters, google bombing filters).

If the PageRank of your internal pages is low, and at the same time you are using a lot of duplicate content (remember what they thought us in school during exams - no copying from other students :) ), your site is heading for the supplemental index pool.

THE FIX FOR SUPPLEMENTAL RESULTS PROBLEM IS:

Get Real Links:

Google's Matt Cutts posted on his blog:
In general, the best way I know of to move sites from more supplemental to normal is to get high-quality links (don’t bother to get low-quality links just for links’ sake).
As you may know link exchange is the thing of the past. Google no more favours link exchange like it did in the past.
Why? Because most of the webmasters are doing it. And the goal of doing the link exchange is not to give your visitors more valuable links to toher resources -no the real goal is to increase the traffic and get higher PR. Exchanging still works if you are exchanging with high PR sites, and the number of links is pretty low.
You should build a site that a lot of people would be interested in visiting it. That way they will link to it by themselves and you will get nce natural one way links to your site.
If you know how to write great content - well that way you can get many one way links that would increase your traffic and Pagerank. Also give the visitors chance to comment on your content or to exchange comments with other visitors coming to your site (create a forum or a discussion board).

PageRank is a large part of what is used to determine if a page is of high enough quality to stay indexed (or put in the supplemental index pool), and how much Google duplicate content filters (and other filters) should be applied against it.

Strong links pointing to your internal pages can help search engines crawl that portion of your site better in case you have any internal structure errors.

Make Your Posts Longer:

Try to avoid having short posts or articles that are only 1 or 2 paragraphs long.
In thea case Google see your pages rather similar to each other. The cure for that is making posts longer - more paragraphs and enable comments for your visitors to get more unique content.

Reduce Sitewide Repetitive Features:

Each page has to have unique page titles and meta descriptions. That is really important.

Also you should put your unique content higher to the top of the page and move the duplicate content below at the end of the page.

Don't Link at Garbage Sites:

You have canonical URL issues on your site that can be fixed easily with 301 redirect.
If www.mysite.com version of the site and mysite.com version have different Pagerank, you can do a 301 redirect from lower to higher Pagerank version of the site.

You also have a few broken links on your site that could be fixed.

All these changes should facilitate better indexing of your blog posts.
