From my experience, Google is a super snuffer, never trust Google if you want to get good rankings. They have all these free tools, toolbars, you get them for free. However, is it safe to have them?

Not from my experience, especially if you are doing gray or black hat seo. Nowadays, everything is gray, I think white seo is nonexistent. If you exchange links, that is gray, if you optimize keywords, that is gray, this way you are manipulating SE and Google doesn’t like it.
So from me experience every time you are doing something gray or even black, avoid having any big G apps installed, this goes for Gmail, Google toolbars…….
So here is the list, watch out for big g and slap Google back, he deserves it.

Changing IPs
Don’t use Google Analytics.
Don’t use gmail
Don’t use big G toolbar.
Don’t be logged into big g anything
Host your sites on different IPs
Avoid JavaScript footprints e.g. using the same analytical stat's codes on same sites

Avoid adsense on linked sites
