Selecting the correct keywords and optimizing your site is a crucial Seo process when trying to increase traffic.

  1. Keyword research is an important part of the SEO process. By selecting the correct keywords and optimizing your site for those keywords, you can increase traffic to your site.
  2. The first step in keyword research is to come up with a list of potential keywords. There are a number of ways to do this, including using keyword research tools and brainstorming ideas with colleagues or friends.
  3. Once you have a list of potential keywords, it's important to test them to see which ones generate the most traffic. You can do this by using a tool like Google Keyword Tool, Wordtracker, or SEMrush.
  4. After you've selected the best keywords, it's important to optimize your site for those keywords. This includes adding them to your title tags, meta descriptions, and header tags, image alt tags, inside body text.
  5. Finally, don't forget to track your results!

Who, what, where, when, and why of keywords.

Keywords are the words and phrases that people type into search engines to find information. When you optimize your website or blog for certain keywords, you make it easier for people to find you online.

This technique has served me well in my SEO work. It ie very simple way to find very detailed long-tail keywords, which are perfect keywords to rank fast and that bring lots of traffic to your site.

This is how I do it:

  • I want to know who is going to use my products (keyword). Then I try to find the keywords related to the who.
  • What are they going to do with my items?
  • When do they need my items?
  • Where do they need it?
  • Why do they want what I have?
  • Often the words of the why, the who, the what, the where and when, and how have nothing to do with the exact keyword phrase.

SEO Example

For example, if you are selling Canon cameras.

You can ask yourself:

  • Who will buy it? This could be an amateur, professional, tourist
  • Why would they buy it? To take vacation pictures, family reunions, birthdays, new year celebrations, marriage
  • What would they buy? Canon camera, small compact camera, 10 MP camera, amateur camera
  • Where? Online, online store, Los Angeles, San Diego
  • When? Summer, winter(This product is not correlating with when exactly)
  • How? Credit card, Paypal, check, mail

You see how many options you have to build your long-tail keywords. You can have hundreds of variations. Then you can use Wordtracker to see which are the most popular and voila use them for anchor incoming links, anchor internal links, in title tags, h1 - h4 tags, content, and bold font.

You name it. You have to think about why behind everything. You can also think about abbreviations when selecting correct keywords.

Today the market is getting bigger and bigger. This is the reason to use long-tail keywords (keywords that more precisely describes your items with more words inside keywords phrase).

And usually, the people who are using very specific keywords are the ones who will buy your products. That is the most important fact. 

A person who searches for a Canon camera to buy will less likely buy than a user who searches for example for a Canon camera with lens D90 model
